Investigators (Preschool)

Our Investigators, aged three to five, share a vibrant nursery environment that evolves with their growing independence, curiosity, and confidence. It’s a space designed to meet children where they are.

Investigators have plenty of opportunities to explore, question, and create. Our Discoverers and Investigators share a garden and forest school for regular access to our outdoor classroom—offering daily opportunities for exploration and discovery. Days are rich with meaningful experiences — from walks in the local community to Forest School adventures, visits to Ridley Manor, and time at the allotment — giving children real-world learning in natural surroundings. Indoors, children are introduced to Montessori Practical Life activities, learning to care for themselves and their environment. Art areas encourage creativity and self-expression, while role play, small world, loose parts, early literacy, and a cosy reading corner invite exploration across every area of development. As children grow, more complex conversations, friendships, and imaginative play emerge, alongside gentle preparation for the transition to school.

Through it all, our calm, experienced team is there to guide and support each child — celebrating milestones, nurturing friendships, and ensuring every day is filled with joy. By the time they leave Sunshine, children are curious, confident, and eager for the adventures of school life ahead.

What our parents say

Our Education:

In the Investigators Room, children learn through real experiences, meaningful relationships, and a sense of ownership over their learning. Following a Montessori-inspired curriculum, our practitioners tailor activities to each child’s interests — encouraging independence, curiosity, and deep thinking.

Learning extends beyond the classroom with regular visits to the allotment, Forest School, Ridley Manor, and the wider community. Children also take part in our Nursery Council, where their voices help shape nursery life. These experiences build confidence, leadership, and communication skills — preparing children not only for school, but for life.
