Our Curriculum
Our curriculum is built around 18 inspiring goals designed to spark curiosity, confidence, and joy from birth to age five. Children build dens, cook recipes from scratch, write their first poems, and spend time with older generations, with each experience helping them grow in meaningful, memorable ways.
Every goal is carefully connected to the seven areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). This means your child is supported across every aspect of their development, while still learning through play, exploration, and real-world experiences.
Nature
Nature is at the heart of how children learn with us. From feeling soil between their fingers to noticing the changing seasons, these small everyday moments help children develop emotional resilience, physical confidence, and a deep sense of calm. Our curriculum encourages children to slow down, look closely, and build a lifelong connection with the natural world.
Community
Feeling part of a community helps children understand who they are and how they belong. Through friendships at nursery, links with local organisations, and opportunities to help and participate, children learn about kindness, responsibility, and connection. We see every child as a future citizen — and the more rooted they feel in their community, the more confident they become.
Creativity
Creativity fuels imagination, language, and joy. Whether children are painting, dancing, storytelling, or exploring sounds and poetry, creative expression helps them make sense of the world. It also builds the strong language skills that form the foundation for future learning. We celebrate every child’s ideas, however big or small, and give them the space to express themselves freely.
Enrichment Experiences
Forest School
Outdoor learning is a major part of our curriculum. Led by trained practitioners, our Forest School adventures take children into nearby woods and green spaces to climb, explore, build, and discover. Whether they’re spotting wildlife or learning how to stay safe around a campfire, children grow in confidence, resilience, and their love of the natural world.
Intergenerational Connections
We’re proud to bring children together with older members of our community for crafts, gardening, conversation, and storytelling. These visits help children develop empathy, kindness, and a meaningful connection to people of all ages.
Yoga & Mindfulness
These gentle sessions offer children a calm moment in their week to stretch, breathe, and slow down. Through simple movements and guided relaxation, they learn how to understand their feelings, look after their bodies, and find moments of stillness.
Dance
Our dance sessions encourage children to express themselves through movement, rhythm, and imagination. From simple steps to playful storytelling through dance, children build confidence, coordination, and a sense of joy in performing.
Muddy Chefs Programme
In our hands-on cooking sessions, children chop, mix, taste, and cook real dishes using fresh seasonal ingredients. It’s a wonderful way to build independence, foster healthy eating habits, and give children the confidence to enjoy food they’ve made themselves.
Sports
Our Muddy Movers sessions — along with fun tasters like football or rugby — help children burn energy, build coordination, and enjoy being active. Through playful team games, they learn cooperation, confidence, and the joy of moving their bodies.
Makaton Signing Sessions
Delivered by a trained Makaton practitioner, these friendly sessions introduce children to simple signs in a fun, engaging way. Makaton supports communication for all children and helps us create an inclusive, supportive environment where every child is understood.
Allotment Sessions
Our weekly allotment trips give children the joy of planting seeds, caring for vegetables, and watching food grow. It’s a hands-on way to learn patience, responsibility, and where our food really comes from — all while getting wonderfully muddy.
Parent Events
We love bringing our families together through joyful celebrations and shared experiences. From our annual art exhibition and festive Christmas show to our heart-warming graduation ceremony, these events give children the chance to shine and families the chance to feel part of our community.
