"It is full of love, kindness and understanding. They have taught my son so much more than I could have ever have hoped for at a nursery and watching him grow from strength to strength.”

Natalie, mother of child

Explorers (Babies)

Explorers is a calm, nurturing space designed especially for our youngest children. With a network of connected rooms and their own dedicated garden, babies have the freedom to explore in a safe and gentle environment. The space includes a cosy sleep room, a dining area, sensory and messy-play zones, loose-parts exploration, and quiet corners for books and bonding. Every detail supports early curiosity, comfort, and connection.

Discoverers (Toddlers)

Our Discoverers have two inviting rooms to roam, experiment, and play. Here, toddlers enjoy imaginative role play, early practical life activities, arts and crafts, loose parts, and block play that encourage problem-solving and self-expression. They also benefit from their own garden, complete with construction materials, a large sandpit, bikes, and plenty of space for big physical movement—alongside regular exploratory walks to learn from the world beyond the nursery gates.

Investigators (Preschool)

From three years old, children join our Investigators classroom—a bright, high-ceilinged space with seamless free-flow access to the garden. Alongside the main classroom, they have a dedicated loose-parts room and a dynamic role-play area where new themes and invitations spark imagination each day. This is a place where children build independence, deepen friendships, and prepare confidently for their next steps.

Our Atelier, Library & Wise Owls Rooms

Across the nursery, children enjoy a rich variety of specialist spaces. Our beautifully designed atelier inspires creativity through art, design, and open-ended materials. The library is a treasured spot for storytelling, artefact exploration, and quiet reflection. The Wise Owls rooms offer calm, focused environments for puzzles, mark-making, small-world play, and early literacy work. Together, these spaces give every child the chance to wonder, create, question, and discover in their own unique way.

Our Curriculum

Our curriculum is designed to honour childhood, nurture curiosity, and build the foundations for lifelong learning. Inspired by Montessori principles and enriched by real-world experiences, it weaves together hands-on exploration, nature, creativity, and community connection. Every activity is intentional yet joyful, giving children the space to follow their interests, gain confidence, and develop the skills that matter most from birth to five.

Nature

Nature is at the heart of everything we do. Whether children are digging in the soil, watching the seasons shift, or spending time in our forest school sites, they learn through the rhythms and wonders of the natural world. These daily experiences support emotional wellbeing, build resilience, and offer endless opportunities for enquiry, imagination, and calm.

Creativity

Creativity flows through each day at Little Ferns. From open-ended materials and loose-parts play to art, dance, music, and storytelling, children are encouraged to express themselves freely and joyfully. Creative expression strengthens language, problem-solving, and confidence—helping children develop a rich inner voice and a lifelong love of making and imagining.

Community

A strong sense of community anchors our nurseries. Children build relationships with peers, staff, families, and the wider world—from visits to care homes to events that bring everyone together. We believe these connections create belonging, nurture empathy, and help children understand their place within something bigger, forming the foundation for confident, compassionate little citizens.
